Maidstone Pool League Rules & Guidelines

Pool League Guidelines

1. All league and cup games to start at 8pm

2. In league games the home team fills in the result sheet first and then hand to opponents.

3. In winter K/O Cup the result sheet is cut in half and both teams to fill in their section. The sheet is then rejoined before game starts. This rule also applies to Summer Cup and Matthew Bryant Memorial Cup at K/O stages.

4. All result sheets at end of match to be photographed and sent to Pool League Facebook page. It is the responsibility of the winning team to post the result. Result must be posted no later than 48 hours after the match, failure to do so will result in winning team being deducted 2pts.

5. Captains to toss a coin before match starts to determine order of break. Winning side to break in games 1, 3, 5, 7 + 9.

6. Teams that win 9-0 will receive a further 2-point bonus providing the opposition have enough players to play all 9 frames.

7. Any player that clears up from the break will receive a trophy at the Presentation Night This is referred to as a '7 Baller', Captains from both teams are to sign and indicate player at bottom of result sheet.

8. The Winter League will consist of 2 leagues, both Division 1 and Division 2. At the end of each season the bottom 3 teams from Division 1 will be relegated and the top 3 teams from Division 2 will be promoted.

9. Procedures of teams finishing on level points at end of season.

a) Team with most games won

b) If both teams have same number of games won it will be decided on best result against each other.

c) If teams still have same games won and equal result against each other, it will then be decided on best result against any teams finishing above sides and thereafter against next team below until winner decided.

10. Teams dropping out of league during the season. If a team dropping out has played at least 75% of their fixtures, all remaining teams due to play them will receive a 6-0 win (8 points). Teams that drop out before playing 75% of their fixtures will result in all teams having points against team deducted.

11. Cancelled games. For any league or cup game, teams must contact their opponents giving at least 48 hours' notice. Failure to give 48 hours' notice will give the opposition team two choices. Either re-arrange the game or claim a 6-0 win (8 pts). The same applies in individual competitions but only 24 hours’ notice required.

12. The last game of the season on fixtures list is the last game. No games to be played after final date. If teams have rearranged games still to play towards end of season, please ensure these are played before final game.

13. All team cups and individual competitions at s/f and final stages. Venue will be drawn from all teams in pool league, with draw recorded on website.

14. Player transfer. Players are permitted to transfer once in any given season. Captains from both sides concerned must give their approval to pool league.

15. New players. Teams are permitted to sign on new players at any stage of the season providing player has not played for any other side during the given season. Please add players name to bottom of result sheet on their first game.

16. A team must turn up with at least 4 players for a result to count. Any less than 4 players, the opposition can rearrange game or claim a 6-0 win (8 pts)

17. AGM. This is where any changes or amendments to guidelines and pool league committee take part. Each team has a maximum of two votes. Teams should attend to make their vote count.

18. Players from Maidstone + District Pool League who also play on a Monday, are not permitted to play in our league. No Exceptions.

19. Team Cup Games / Individual Competitions. For teams/individuals drawn at home but unable to use their own venue, are permitted to change to a venue of their choice to play these games. Note: this only applies to games scheduled for a Tuesday.

20. League Team Cup Games. Away team to be given 10 minutes practice time prior to match start. Suggested time is 7.50PM.

21. Changing team sheet order. Only allowed if teams agree before start of match, this is generally for players who arrive late due to work commitments. If not agreed before start of game, the team sheet/order of play cannot be altered.
