I will be sorting out the draw for the next round of the Singles Knockout in the next few days. Matches are scheduled to be played on Tuesday 18th December 2018.
I am still missing several results from the recent Doubles Knockout round. I know most of these games are still to be arranged, and I would ask that these matches are sorted out as soon as possible. The next round of Doubles is scheduled for Tuesday 8th January 2019, so ideally I would like to get the draw done before the Christmas break.
The following results are still outstanding;
Alan / ??? (Civil Service A) v Gerry / Daniel (Lashings B ) Paul / Mark (Flower Pot B ) v Mark / Dave (Civil Service B ) Darren / Kirk (Civil Service B ) v Dan / Nick (Hare & Hounds A)
Jay / Jim (Eagle B ) v Troy / Bertie (Civil Service A)
Singles Knockout 1st Round - Monday 29th October 2018
As always, start times are for guidance only. Some venues have a lot of games scheduled, so some of you may prefer to play on a different night. Please try to sort it out directly with your opponent if you would like to rearrange. I only have phone numbers for team captains, but a lot of players can be contacted through Facebook.
I know some teams/players are not on Facebook, so I will try to get printed copies of this draw delivered to venues on my day off, on Wednesday.
It's been mentioned to me a couple of times already this season...
What's the ruling on World Rules players in our League? If they are permanent members of your team, then that's fine and we welcome them to our League.
What we do object to is bringing in 'ringers'. I know the MDPL started a week later than our League, but now both leagues are operating on Mondays, players can't play in both leagues and swap backwards and forwards.
We don't want 'ringers' brought in especially for cup games either, when the knockouts are played on Tuesdays.
We are essentially a Pub League, and there is a difference in standard between teams that are out for a bit of fun on a Monday night, and others who take it a bit more seriously. Let's try to keep things friendly. Cheers!
Thanks to everyone that attended the AGM on Tuesday. There will be 22 teams entering this season, the same as last year, so again it will be 2 divisions of 11, 10 home games, 10 away games and 2 byes. The season will start on 1st October and Week 22 will be on 15th April 2019. Easter Monday is late (22nd April), Finals night will be 29th April. Presentation Night will be 13th May 2019.
Victory A dropped out a few weeks into the season last year, so there will be 3 teams going down to Division 2, and 4 teams coming up to Division 1.
Going down are: The Fox, Flower Pot B, Duke of Marlborough A
Coming up are: Civil Service B, Dog & Gun, Bower Inn, Paper Makers Arms.
Dog & Gun are only entering one team, so 5th place Paper Makers also come up.
The old Lashings D team are relocating to the Century Club, and stay in Division 1. A new Lashings D team will start in Division 2.
Other new teams starting in Division 2 this winter are The Fox Loud (who joined this summer), and a new Duke of Marlborough B team.
Winter AGM will be on TUESDAY 11TH SEPTEMBER at Civil Service Club. 8pm start.
Bertie is sorting out delivery of registration forms, but you can download and print your own from the 'Files' section of the Facebook group.
Please bring it along with registration fees on the night. £40 per team for the season.
Remember, there are also individual and pairs knockout tournaments to enter in the winter. Please include these entry fees. It would also be handy if entrants could include a contact number, or at least get them to join the Facebook group, so it makes arranging their games easier.
If you are entering, be aware most knockouts are played on TUESDAYS.
Winter 2018 Registration forms will be delivered to venues over the next couple of weeks, but captains can get ahead of the game by downloading and printing their own copy from the 'Files' section of the Facebook Group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/maidstonepool/
No news yet of when the AGM will be held, but as soon as I know, I'll post details.
Next week is the free week for rearranged games. Below is a full list of outstanding matches. We still have a couple more weeks to fit in these games before the knockout stage starts.
There are a few teams with multiple games to fit in. Please let me know if and when you intend to play these matches. If games remain unplayed at the end of the group stage, points may be awarded for any unplayed games, according to who originally cancelled. In some cases it may not affect the final group positions, but in some groups it might.
